i did passed the test, first time, through the walkley office........back in
1972.......i had never been in the area before.....in fact, i barely knew
ottawa and my practice had been in the gatineau moutains.......with a
renault 10 standard transmission.........we "almost" went over mountains
more often than i care to remember.........eventually i taught other how to
drive........but never again, my nerves aren't that solid anymore
i made one mistake only........during my test i did not advance at an
intersection controlled with lights, when turning left.......all of a sudden
i became confused about whether i advance half way or not, so i
didn't.......i was cited for that mistake and given my licence as it was
the only one i made
i thank my lucky stars that my examiner's idea of parallel parking was
pulling up behind another car only.........i never had to squish in between
2 cars......30 some years later i still can't do that with ease and will
drive around for blocks to avoid having to do that........had i had to do
that, i might have failed........i was prepared but it was my worse
skill......and it remains my worst skill.......give me anything BUT
that......i have never received a ticket except ONCE for speeding over the
limit (20 kms) on my way to work one day...........and a couple of expired
parking meters
my girlfriend taught me how to drive.........her brothers were race car
drivers and had taught her......her dad owned a renault dealership and it
took me a year to get it right......i learned defensive driving from day
one......and in mountains........i never forgot many of the rules of
courtesy, turning, downshifting and stopping on a dime in icy
roads........or hills......or on gravel roads..........before i took my test
i had driven on every imaginable road surface in all conditions.......in
fact, i remember that as a smoker, my girlfriend insisted i learn to drive
this car with a cigarette in hand and a cup of coffee because as she said,
reality is i will be doing both so i may as well learn how to juggle it all,
from the beginning
accident free for over 30 years
Post by Keenan WellarPost by Joe CanuckPost by AminI intend to take the G2 exam. Anybody can guide me what is the route
in the Walkley area.
Please provide details.
Note: I appreciate if u can email me directly.
Thanks and regards
Amin
There are several routes they may take.
Knowing the route won't help you.
Knowing how to drive well enough to achieve the G2 is what will help you.
Heh. Too true. Although I remember many many years ago doing my test in that
area, and despite taking lessons and doing a lot of practice driving around
the city, I'd never come across multiple turning lanes, such as you find
down the centre of Bank Street in the area of the Walkley intersection. I
managed it fine, but it definitely wouldn't have hurt to have driven around
that area first and become a bit more comfortable with the particulars of
the roads there.
But the idea of learning "the route" might backfire, because if that ends up
not being the route you are asked to drive, you might get so nervous that
you forget to simply relax and use the skills you've acquired.
